Volunteer Opportunities
Telephone Counselor
Staff the agency's 24-hour crisis line. Volunteers use active listening techniques to counsel callers, interview potential clients and give appropriate referrals.
Victim's Advocate
Accompany clients to family court hearings and assist with legal paperwork.
Children's Aide
Plan and implement recreational and educational activities for the young people who come to the shelter with their mothers.
Shelter Aide
Assist the Shelter Coordinator in various activities, such as making minor repairs, sorting donations, and taking inventory.
In-Service Speaker
Share your area of personal expertise with groups of clients. Resume writing, infant care and personal finances are just some of the topics volunteers have presented to clients in the past.
Speaker's Bureau Volunteer
Represent the agency at various functions and educate the public about the various problems faced by victims of domestic violence.
Spanish-speaking Volunteers
Spanish-speaking volunteers are urgently needed. Help counselors provide information, advocacy services and counseling to Spanish-speaking domestic violence victims.
Group Volunteers
If you are part of a group that would like to volunteer together, do not fill out the volunteer application. Groups will be provided with a list of current projects so they may choose which one(s) are of interest. Please email hope@mysistershouse.com to request group project opportunities and procedures.

Please note that My Sister's House, Inc. is NOT affiliated with organizations bearing similar names in other states.. By applying for our volunteer program, you are assumed to be available for activities in Charleston, Berkeley, or Dorchester counties in
South Carolina.
Once your application has been received, you will be invited to a Volunteer Information Session. At this short session, you will be able to ask questions about our volunteer program and sign up for volunteer training. Our next session is scheduled for Tuesday, August 3rd from 5:30pm to 6:00pm. .
